ROUTE: The
route starts and ends at the
entrance to the Mas Oliva
residential neighborhood. The
first section follows the
Oslo street (Carrer
Oslo), parallel to the Ginjolers stream, the most
important of Roses’
waterways. The route goes on
past the paved road through
fields olive trees
that yield exquisite oil
thanks to the mild climate
and fertile soil.
The
Mas de l’Alzeda, which is
still inhabited, dominates
the landscape at the end of
the valley.
At the first intersection
you find, you will take the
path to the right and you will
reach the centuries-old
Roses Olive Tree, a tree
whose massive trunk is proof
of its solemnity and
persistence throughout the
years. The route, from the
point where you turned off
and back, can take you
approximately 30 minutes.
Further ahead, just 200
meters in a straight line
from the first crossing, you
will come to a second
crossing, where you can also
choose to take the path that
branches off to the right,
leading to another tree that
is of local interest: the Pi
d’en Rahola, a pine tree
that also impresses by its
massive size and height.
Once back on the route,
and following the markings,
you will find yourself on the
path that goes through olive
groves, which reveal the
importance of this crop in
the past, and which has become
one of the most significant
elements of Roses’ natural,
cultural and social
heritage.
The path leads back to the
paved road and the starting
point of your trek. |
