Natural park Cap de Creus
Within the municipal area of Roses is
found part of this marine and terrestrial
natural park, an area of great geological
and aesthetic value as much for its flora
and fauna as for the historical heritage

found 4,000 hectares of tidal marshes with

Sierra de l´Albera
Between the border and the plain of Alt
Empordà is found this natural site where
several places of ecological interest meet
such as beech and oak woods, the ponds at
Jonquera; the l’Albera tortoise breeding
centre in Garriguella, the castle of
Requesens and an important megalithic and
Roman heritage.

Castelló d´Empúries-Empuriabrava
A medieval Villa 9 km from Roses.
To visit: the Gothic cathedral
of Sta. María (C.XIV); the Parochial
Museum; the Palacio de los Condes, now the
town hall; the convent of Sta. Clara (C.
XI); the Museum of the Farinera; the
medieval Prison (C. XIV); the Casa Gran
(C. XIV); the portal de la Gallarda (C.
XI-XII) and the marina d'Empuriabrava (an

Figueres
18 km from Roses. Capital of the District
of Alt Empordà and an important trade
centre. Visit: The Rambla (a wide path
that crosses the town centre), the Dalí
Museum, the Toys Museum, the l'Empordà
Museum, the parish church of San Pedro (C.
XIV) and the Castle of St. Ferran
(military fortress).

Peralada
15 km fromRoses. Visit:the Romanic
cloister of St. Domènec (C. XII) and the
Peralada Castle Museum that includes: the
Library; the convent of Carmen with its
church and Gothic cloister; the Wine
Museum and the Castle of Peralada itself,
today transformed into a casino. In summer
the famous International Festival of Music
takes place.
Vilabertran
18 km from Roses, between Peralada and
Figueres, this small town adjoins the
monastic complex of Sta. María with
beautiful examples of the Romanic and of
the Catalan Gothic styles (C. XI-XVI).
Sant Pere de Rodes
20 km from Roses, on the mountain of Port
de la Selva, this ancient monastery of the
Romanic style from C.XI dominates the bay
of Roses.
Cadaqués
20 km from Roses. Picturesque seafaring
village. Visit: the-museum of Salvador
Dalí’s house (Portlligat), Pierrot Moore
Museum, Municipal Museum of Art and the
parish Church of Sta. María with a
beautiful Baroque altarpiece (C. XVIII).
Ruinas de Empúries
30 km from Roses. Close to the sea, is to
be found this extraordinary archaeological
site (575 B.C.). Visit: the remains of the
Greek colony of Emporiom.

work of art in Plaza de Sant Josep Oriol
y Pino (close to Las Ramblas an the
Cathedral of Barcelona, right in the
center of the gothic district).

weekend of the year with the following
schedule, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8
