The Citadel: The Oldest Culture Of Roses

In Roses we can appreciate the Citadel. An ancient fort that in old times used to surround the city to protect it from attacks. It was founded by a Greek colony named Rhode.

It is an enclosure containing a very wide field archaeologist chronology, with traces of ancient times (Hellenistic district) and Visigoth. In the medieval part you can see the monastery and the village that revolves around the different walls, to the last phase of the modern era, of which the remains of various military buildings remain.

Currently, you can visit this campus freely or accompanied by some guides that you can explain every detail of each area of the site and the museum.

The Museum of the Citadel

Within the enclosure have the Citadel Museum, which is divided into distinct areas: site, museum hall, exhibition hall and central atrium where there are spaces for cafeteria, souvenir shop, reception and customer service.
In this part of the Citadel objects Greeks were found in the ruins of the wall are preserved.

Opening hours

Winter hours:

- From October to May: 10 to 18h. Closed Mondays (except holidays).

Summer hours:

- June and September: 10 to 20h.
- July and August: 10 to 21h.
Closed on 25 and 26 December 1 and January 6.

- General admission: 4€
- Reduced: € 2.50 (youth card, student card, teaching license, unemployed).
- Free: under 16 and over 65 and citizens of Roses.

Celebrate your birthday

This building is not only serve culturally if not to have a great time doing activities of all kinds. Now you can also come with friends and friends to celebrate your birthday as you've ever done. Activities in summer in Roses in the Citadel

The park is open all year. But in summer it is used for outdoor activities which are very successful each year because they are fun activities and cheaply.

"Cinema to the fresh"

"Cinema to the fresh" is a different proposal for a summer afternoon, is the projection of a film outdoors, still the best way to enjoy a movie in summer.
